Our coast is a special place and thewaters offshore are home to a variety of life – sea stars, kelp forests, migrating whales and seabirds. Unfortunately, our ocean faces serious challenges - fromdeclining fish populations and global warming to invasive species.

Oregon has more than 60 parks along its coast on land, butwe don’t have similar protections in the ocean.

We have the chance to protect our ocean ecosystems forfuture generations of Oregonians and our legislators should join us in supporting marine reserves.

They should know that Oregon is the only west coast state without fully protected areas in our waters for our unique abundance of sea life, migrating whales, diversity of fish species, and seabird habitats. Marine reserves are a scientifically proven to help restore the health of our ocean and make it less vulnerable to future threats.
