Global Warming Solutions

Global warming is here. And it’s not just shrinking snowpack on Mt. Kilimanjaro and disappearing ice floats in the Arctic. Snowpack in Oregon’s own Cascade Mountains is down 35 percent, sea levels are rising on the Oregon Coast, and the incidence of severe wildfires is rising sharply.

Fortunately, we have the technology today to begin dramatically cutting our global warming pollution. From gas-saving hybrid cars to energy-efficient light bulbs, from wind farms around the Columbia Gorge to wave energy on the Coast, Oregon is ready to be part of the solution.

Stopping Global Warming Stops Here

Global warming is a problem that requires global and federal solutions. But the Bush administration is refusing to act, so solving this problem will require Oregonians to build on our legacy of environmental leadership and forge a path toward real global warming solutions. Environment Oregon is working at the state and regional level to put global warming solutions in place.

Clean Cars for Oregon

Cars and trucks are the second-biggest source of global warming pollution in Oregon. Environment Oregon worked with a broad coalition to convince the state to adopt the Clean Cars program, which will cut global warming pollution from new cars and trucks 30 percent by 2016.
