Today, Environment Oregon released the Summer Fun Index, highlighting how Oregonians use and enjoy rivers like the Willamette, the Sandy, and the Columbia.

Attacks on public health defeated—for now.

The coal lobby and their allies are trying to block the EPA from protecting public health, but we’ve held the line against some of their worst attacks: In March, the U.S. Senate rejected a bill that would have blocked standards for soot, mercury and carbon pollution. In April, the Senate defeated four more bills that would have blocked the EPA from cutting air pollution. We need your help to keep up the fight.

Measure 49, Protecting Oregon's Forests and Farms

2007 Victory - More than 750,000 acres of Oregon’s forests and farmlands are protected, thanks to a victory on Ballot Measure 49. Environment Oregon helped convince the Legislature to refer the measure to the ballot, and worked to get Oregonians to approve it. It passed with an overwhelming 61 percent support.

Fuel efficiency standards to double by 2025.

After Environment Oregon and our allies delivered more than 10,000 public comments in support of cleaner cars, the Obama administration announced that fuel-efficiency standards will double by 2025 to a fleetwide average of 54.5 mpg: the single biggest step this country has ever taken to end our addiction to oil and tackle global warming.
