Mount Hood Wilderness Expansion

2009 Victory - Working with the Obama Administration and Oregon's federal delegation, Environment Oregon helped pass the federal Public Lands Bill that included more than 200,000 acres of wilderness protections for Oregon's federal public lands, including expansion of the Mount Hood Wilderness and new wilderness designations for the Soda Mountains and Badlands.

EPA Proposes Biggest Step for Clean Water in a Decade

In the biggest step forward for clean water in more than a decade, the Environmental Protection Agency proposed a rule to close loopholes in the Clean Water Act that leave 53% of Oregon’s streams and millions of acres of wetlands at risk of unchecked pollution and development.

Protected Oregon's Marine Habitat

2009 Victory - Environment Oregon helped pass legislation to protect two coastal water areas as marine reserves and to study the expansion to a network with four additional reserves.  With ocean habitat in deep decline, the reserves will serve as vital sanctuaries for marine life.

Ashland Becomes the Fourth Oregon City to Ban Plastic Bags

On Tuesday night, the Ashland City Council voted in favor of a ban on plastic bags. Plastic bag bans have seen growing public support in Oregon, with the cities of Portland, Corvallis, and Eugene adopting similar bag bans since 2011.
