What do a member of Congress, a state legislator, a mayor, an artist and a straw-maker all have in common?
They’re among the dozen-plus Oregonians who have shared their passion and stories of action to reduce plastic pollution on our new website, OregoniansAgainstWaste.com.
“It’s inspiring to see Oregonians using public policy, art, research and innovation to solve the problem of plastic waste,” said Environment Oregon State Director Celeste Meiffren-Swango.
Environment Oregon launched the project on August 22 to share the stories of Oregonians from many backgrounds who are acting to tackle plastic pollution. Profiles range from artist and activist Angela Haseltine Pozzi, who combines cleaning beaches with educating the public by incorporating marine debris in her art, to Congresswoman Suzanna Bonamici, who spearheaded passage of the Save Our Seas bill.
Environment Oregon started the project hoping it will inspire other Oregonians to learn more about plastic pollution in the ocean and to take action.
